If you're like me you've watched an occassional Cake Boss or Ace of Cakes and thought "that looks easy" or "I can do that." If that is the case you are just like me. I recently found out that Ryan's grandma wants to throw Tally a seperate birthday party in Lehi, which is fine, I just didn't want to buy two cakes. The other day I decided to attempt making a birthday cake for my daughter. What a joke! I have so much respect for people that make cakes now. The fondant sucked to make and we didn't have glycerin which I'm told would make it better, anyway, it was just awful. I knew that this one would be my practice but I had no idea that it would turn out like this.
My advice is to leave the fondant to the professionals.. or maybe buy the fondant instead of making it? I just know that I don't have the patience to do this one again!
I think your cake looks awesome!!! You deserve a little more credit than what you are giving yourself. Good job!
ReplyDeleteYou know...there are lots of cute birthday cakes that DO NOT require fondant!!!! There were b-day cakes before the fancy b-day cakes!! :):)
ReplyDeleteYou never had a fancy fondant b-day cake!!!! And I think it looks nice--so there!
