Looking for a camera

So I like the idea of our video camera/still photo camera in one but I hate having to take the video camera whenever I want a picture. I've hinted very openly to Ryan that I would really love a camera for my birthday (in 3 months) but I have no idea what kind of camera. Okay if it were my choice it would be a fancy $1,000 camera but I don't think that dream will come true for this girl. :) Does anybody have a nice camera that they absolutely love!? I don't care the size but I want it to take really great, nice looking pictures. A close up "zoom" is a must, I don't really care if it takes video or not. Any suggestions?

  1. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my camera!!! I got it for Christmas, so I'm not sure how much it cost. But I am sure it was not as much as others (my mom does not have a lot of money at Christmas-time with seven kids to buy for). I think I saw it at Wal-Mart for $150 but that is a guess. I'm not even sure what kind it is. I love that it doesn't go through batteries very much. All my short little videos are taken with it too. So I'll check what kind it is. What do you think of the quality of my pictures? If you don't think the quality is good, I won't bother checking. But I do know it is a 12 megapixle and has an awesome zoom and great flash. I'll let you know

  2. Does it have a "sports" setting? I need a sports setting with as fast as my baby moves or I'll never get any good pictures! :)

  3. I bought a camera for Vienna that I really really loved - still do, actually. It's a Canon Powershot A640. It takes video (several minutes' worth on the right setting), and has all the settings you would need.
Dorian wants you to know that you can buy a cheap Kodak that takes video in HD.
What I would do it go to Walmart, look at all the cameras and see what you like, then buy it online. That's what we did with our Rebel.
