Weigh in #9

After a couple of tough weeks Ryan weighed in today at 194.6, so he is back to losing weight! I'm sure not that tests and funerals are over he is feeling a lot less stressed. I hope things will continue to stay less stressful for him, the contest ends on April 28th so he's almost done. Last week the poster showed him as 3rd place! It still puts him in a "money making" situation, which is always good. ;) Hopefully he doesn't overdue it this weekend on birthday treats!

Scrapbooking up to date

Well almost... I still plan on making a "Biggest Fan" page for Tally and her love for basketball and Grandpa's games, but I'm still waiting for some pictures. Here's so far:
Tally's Book
Baby Book

Baby's book is all the way up to 4 pages right now! :)

Monkeying around!

I finally started working on the 3 blankets on planning on making before the baby comes. The first one is a monkey blanket that I'm doing for the new baby. We started last week and I finished it today! I am probably still classified as a "beginniner" when it comes to sewing. (I think the last time I sewed I was in high school ) So all of you expirienced sewing wonders out there are welcome to judge but I am pretty proud of this little blankie. ;)

Now for your viewing pleasure. . .

Baby Kunz in 3D!!

A lot of these pictures are going to look the same because they were trying to get his face and he wouldn't let them! He always had his hands everywhere the tech was trying to look. He must not like pictures very much? In every picture of his face you will also only get to see one side because he wouldn't quit cuddling up to my tummy! :)

Baby's ear

Fist

Both hands (one is in a first the other is touching the fist and fingers pointing down)

Little face! (see how squished his nose is ;) )
Side view- with hands of course!
Tally loved watching baby on tv. She keeps telling everyone "he's got stuff on him" when we show the pictures. I guess 3D pictures do make them look kind of gooey ;) She's still pretty proud of her little brother.

Ryan loved watching the ultra sound. When we first got there they couldn't get any good pictures of his face because he was so squished against me. The tech gave us the option of going on a walk for a minute and coming back to see if I could get him to move. Ryan took that option quickly! He got me up walking and he went to the cafeteria and got me some ice water to see if we could freeze baby out of his cozy position ;) It worked! We were able to get some pictures of his face which we are really happy about. I think he looks like Tally. At least his nose does..

Only 8 1/2 more weeks and we will know for sure!

Weigh in #8

This week was not a good one as far as weight loss for Ryan. Between traveling for the funeral, sitting, eating, stress from his test etc. He ended up at 202.2. So still not bad, but a slight gain, nothing he can't get rid of. He's also been tempted by his wife with Easter candy for the past 2 weeks. ;) I think when he gets back to his old routine of good food portions and working out he's going to do great. He's determined to do better next week!

Pack Test

In my last post I talk about how there were time restraints Monday night and we were unable to clean up the last tree will Ryan's pack test is why. For part of his firefighting training Ryan had to be able to carry a 45 lb pack and WALK 3 miles in under 45 min. He did this AFTER chopping down to trees during the day. Needless to say by the end of his test he was completely worn out! His arms, legs, feet everything was sore. But the good news is that he passed! First lap was 12+ minute lap was 12+ and when he realized how much extra time he was going to have he relaxed on the 3rd lap and made it in 14+ min. Leaving him with about 6 minutes to spare!

A little background in case any of you are wondering "Why not just run and get it over with?" Part of firefighting in safety and in the places that they will be burning buildings, forests etc. It's really not safe for anyone to run especially when they are carrying tools and other heavy equipment, so part of their training is "walking fast" and not running. To me walking fast is harder than running sometimes so I feel for him. Glad he passed though. He's still loving it!

Timber!

Before I begin this post I have 2 things that must be said first:

#1 To all of my neighbors who were at their house on Monday: I am terribly sorry about the noise, alas chainsaws can be loud.

#2 Nanette: This was all Ryan's idea! Keep that in mind as you look at the pictures.

Alright we can begin.

Sunday night Trent and Jenny came over for dinner and games. Somehow we got on the subject of Ryan needing a chainsaw because he wanted to get rid of the trees in the backyard. It just so happens that Trent has a chainsaw...
Before

During: It's amazing what you can do with a harness and a chainsaw

I was not there for the second tree so there aren't any pictures of that one. Which I was ok with since it was Ryan's turn to be in the tree. Turns out it was a good thing I wasn't there, Ryan ended up cutting part of the harness and almost cut the safety line. (Once again HIS idea to do this)  But by the time I was home from work both trees were down.

Right now my back yard looks like the perfect habitat for a beaver if there was a river running through it. The first tree got picked up and taken away but the second is still there because of lack of time. Hopefully on one of Ryan's days off this week we can get it picked up and hauled away.

I also don't have an after picture yet! I didn't want all of the wood on the ground so you'll have to wait for that one.

Baby Appointment

My glucose is 122 which apparently is great. It's nice to know that I drank that orange stuff and got a good result! My blood pressure is in a good range too so things are going much better for me!

Baby's heartrate is in the 140s so he's doing great too. I measure at 30, and I'll be 31 weeks this Thursday!

My Dr. also dared to bring up my weight today. I am 3 lbs lighter this time than I was last time. You may not think that is anything to be proud of but considering I started out weighing 10 lbs more this pregnancy it's a difference of 13 lbs! I'm super excited about that!

I feel better this time than last time too. My body knows what to expect more and I have a little girl to keep me busy and moving around too. I still don't feel pregnant until I try to sleep at night. It's getting harder and harder to get comfortable.

Change of Schedule

Last Thursday I was supposed to get my 3D ultrasound, but things changed when Ryan's Grandpa unexpectedly passed away and we needed to be in Price. So it's been rescheduled for this Thursday at 4:00. For Ryan to be there he will have to go to work an hour early so he can get off early. Which means his day will start at 3:30 AM! I know it will be worth it for him, he really wants to be there.

I had only met Ryan's Grandpa a few times and didn't know him well, but the funeral was nice and it was fun to see so many family members, some for the first time, just too bad it had to be under those circumstances.

We left for Price Thursday morning and came home Friday night. It was a very quick trip, but we all had a good time.

Ryan had his Firemen Certification test on Saturday for Wildland. It was 100 questions and he thinks he only missed 2 which would put him at around a 97%! He studied super hard while we were in Price so that he would be ready. He also had to demonstrate some fire fighting skills. He had to memorize 23 and how to do them all and then the people in charge of the test chose 3 for him to demonstrate. That part is pass or fail. If you forget a step then you fail....he passed! I'm so proud of him. He was beaming and full of energy when he came home. He still had adrenaline and could not hold still! It was funny to watch him. I'm not sure how many more tests are to come, but if he rocks them like he did this one he's going to do great!

Happy 17!

My baby sister turned 17 on March 20th! I can't believe she's that old! I remember when she was a baby, I was only 6, could I really be nearly 23?
Happy Birthday Karli! Karli! Karli!
We hope you had a great day!

Weigh in #7

Ryan weighed in at 195.8 today. Which doesn't look like much when I just told you that he weighed in at 196.8 a week ago. However, today is partner, who only sees him on Wednesdays, told him that he looks like he's losing too much weight! I thought that was funny considering he is not even in the "weight range" that charts, or the wii fit, consider healthy for him. He is looking really good though. He's lost weight in his face, feet and legs. I think his arms will come next and his stomach will be the last to go. FINALLY something I can relate to him with! ;)

Partners in Crime...

1. I'm having a boy

2. Stacia is having a boy

3. They will be 2 months apart

Nervous?

Weigh in #6

Ryan was a slacker the days before last Wednesday. He discovered a new restaraunt that in his eyes has the best burgers and dessert. Needless to say that night he did not stick to his normal portion size. He's also found that he misses his sugar intake and getting seconds. However, because he is a guy he continues to lose weight! He didn't lose his 5 lbs like his goal in the past but he still managed to weigh in at 196.8.

I continue to weigh more.....

Weigh in #5

First let me just say that I can't believe Ryan's been doing this for amonth now! It is going by so fast! Today he weighed in at 198.2 which he deems to be a total of 21 lbs in a month! I wish I could do that. My record is 10. While we were in Orem over the weekend we also picked up a treadmill. He got to run on it last night and he's already convinced it's going to be a big help in the next 2 months getting down to his weight goal. Now we just have to go get him some running shoes. Once again he filled up on water, I believe last night he weighed 194ish on our scale. I'm hoping all of this water weight is an advantage in the end like he's hoping, we'll see! Whether he wins or not I know he feels better and his happy with how he looks and that's really all that matters. But $500 would be nice. ;)

State Basketball Weekend!

My dad's basketball team won their playoff game a couple Saturdays and headed to State last Thursday. We've been following their games all season long and at first it looked like we weren't going to make it State which just didn't seem fair. You can't miss the best part right? Things started looking better for us when some summer family trips got moved around and Ryan didn't have to take as many days off so he could take them off for State instead! It looked like we would drive out and stay Friday and Saturday. We still would miss the Thursday game but I was happy with the outcome of being able to go at all.

Wednesday made us fear our plans. Right before I was headed to work I heard Tally coughing. As hard as she was coughing I knew she wasn't taking a nap, so I went and got her. I held her until the babysitter got there. She looked tired and uncomfortable but I didn't think much of it. I called Ryan on the way to work anyway to let him know I was wondering if Tally was getting sick. By the time it was time for bed that night Tally had thrown up twice and was absolutely miserable. None of us slept that night.

The next day Ryan went to work and I tried to console Tally. (Which was hard to do on 3 hours of sleep) Eventually I got her to take a nap and get a bath. After the bath the real trouble began. Tally wanted a drink so I gave her some milk. The poor thing had been living on salt crackers, bread and water I felt bad for her. She tipped her head back to get a drink out of her sippy and immediately started crying. Finally she looked at me and said "Mom, my ear is hurts. I knew that meant a trip to the doctor was in our future. Both of us had gotten showers and now had to get ready for the day. I took Tally to an urgent care clinic where they diagnosed her, of course, with an ear infection. Then it was off to the pharmacy for amoxicillan, we also needed tylenol and ibeprofen.

Ryan didn't want to get his karate students sick because we knew there was something more than an ear infection wrong with Tally that he cancelled for that night. Called me up and told me to get a hotel and that we would do our best to make it to the Thursday State game. I still think he cancelled for me, he knew I was desperate to get there. Basketball, well sports in general, have always been a big part of my family's life and I was dying to get there and be a part of it.

So then began the packing for all 3 of us while tending a sick child. I also had to clean out the car, gas it up and get money from the ATM for the trip. It felt like I never stopped moving until Ryan came home at 5:00 he showered and we were on the road for the game by 5:30. We pulled into UVU and arrived at the game before half time! It was amazing. I can't believe how things worked out. Tally was a trooper through the drive and throughout the weekend.

Now to the fun stuff.

My dad's team won their game against Emery Thursday night, guaranteeing them nothing lower than 4th place. We went back to the hotel, Tally and Ryan went swimming and we attempted bed. It didn't work out well. I think Tally was still hurting pretty bad when she laid down.

Friday they won their game against Juab guaranteeing them nothing short of 2nd which sadly is where they placed. They played Richfield and lost by 5.

It was a fabulous weekend and the team did such a great job! They were so fun to watch. We've enjoyed watching them all season long and they did not disappoint us at State! There are some articles in our local paper about the Union Girls Basketball team if you go to www.ubstandard.com I know their are also articles in the Salt Lake Tribune as well as the Deseret News.

Tally thought that the pillow in our hotel room was a horse.

Our little fish! She never seemed sick in the water.
